Are Vaccine Mandates Good or Bad for Public Health?
Tuesday November 10th 7:30-9:30 PM (Doors Open at 7:00 pm)
Dawn Richardson and Dr. Sherri Tenpenny will debate Dr. Tom Betz from the State Health Department
University of Texas Campus in the Art Auditorium
Open to the Public
Both Secretary of Health and Human Resources Kathleen Sebelius and President Barack Obama have declared the H1N1 virus to be a public health emergency. These actions invoke law that could lead to mandatory vaccinations of the general public. Several organizations of healthcare professionals from across the nation have successfully sued or are currently suing state and the federal government to prevent the forcible vaccination of their members. Vaccines have been credited with eradicating deadly diseases, but common ingredients in many modern vaccines have also been positively linked to the generation of debilitating autoimmune disorders in an veterans vaccinated against anthrax prior to the Persian Gulf War. This health and public policy forum will debate: “Are Vaccine Mandates Good or Bad for Public Health?”
This Vaccine Education Forum will be moderated by Dr Donna Campbell. Tom Betz, MD, MPH, Regional Director, Texas Department of Health Services Region 7, will be speaking in support of vaccine mandates during public health emergencies. Dr. Sherri J. Tenpenny, an osteopathic medical doctor, Board-certified in emergency medicine through 2005, and founder of Osteomed II, in Cleveland, OH, and Dawn Richardson, President and Co-founder of PROVE (Parents Requesting Open Vaccine Education) in Austin, Texas and the Directory of State Advocacy for the National Vaccine Information Center in Vienna, Virginia, will be speaking in opposition to vaccine mandates.
The moderator will be questioning the panelists during the first hour. The public will be allowed to question the panelists during the second hour.
This event is sponsored by the Libertarian Longhorns, the Health Professions Council, the Texas College Republicans, the UT Objectivism Society. The UT Art Auditorium is located at the corner of 23rd Street and San Jacinto just north of the stadium. Parking is available in the garage labeled SJG just north of the building on San Jacinto.
